Clayton Turns 3

Mummy asked what cake did he want for school celebration & he told me, he wanted a Minion cake. Someone asked me if Minion cake is still in the season? Oh ya, it is, it is still very much in the season for my big boy.

Mummy has decided that it was time to challenge herself to a fondant project, for the second time, after almost 2 years. Yes, my first fondant cake had failed miserably.

And here it is, please forgive those excess buttercream that was not perfectly shaped.
This is a 4 layers butter cake, that was covered with swiss meringue buttercream & nutella. It is specially made with reduced sugar too. Oh yumss!

The bottom layer, nutella!
Second layer, swiss meringue buttercream
Third layer, nutella, again!
Now, let's move on to the fondant station.

I was feeling all nervous before I started working on this. I'm really worried that I wouldn't be able to "nail it" & it would definitely disappoint my big boy, & of course, myself.

These are ready to roll fondant, store bought.
Hmm, how does it look like so far? Can you tell that this is a minion?
Here, I would like to present you my (first considered) successful Minion Fondant Cake

Although the workmanship is very rough, & to be honest I'm not very happy with my work, but, I'm indeed proud. Can I say I "nailed it"? LOL!!!!!

I would like to thank Eva for giving me so many great tips while I was struggling through it.

After 6 hours of hard work, finally!
Can consider pass?
He came home from school & was so happy & excited to see the Minion Cake, he guarded the cake the whole night as if someone was going to steal it away.
Dear hubby contributed his labour by washing up all the dishes, erm, it's like a WW3 I tell you.
Simple party pack prepared for the kids in school.

9th May 2014

Today, Clayton has a little cake cutting session at school.

Ashton says : "Let's all cheer for my kor kor!"
Ashton says : "Hey, it's my kor kor's Minion cake."
Clayton's classmates sang him 3 rounds of birthday songs.
Woohoo.... so many candles to be blown.

Let's take a look on how's the inside look like.
Clayton was busy distributing cakes to his friends.
Ashton was begging for a piece of cake too!
Arghh, the thing abut fondant, it's made of sugar & we don't generally eat it. The fondant - my hard work, all going to the bin later.
He told me the cake is nice, but hubby found it bland. That's the whole purpose of it, it was made of less sugar, hoping that the kids won't get sugar rush.
Happy time! All kids love getting party packs.
My boy, you're 3 now!

3 years ago on this day, an angel was sent to earth.
This angel was meant to touch lives & that happened.
You have touched ours & made our life different.
Not a day gone by without surprises that you have constantly amaze (& upset) me.
But, it never stops us from loving you...
More & more each day!

Clayton
Mummy, daddy & didi love you!
Happy Birthday!
