Kids Balance Bike

Our little bikers.

We have first gotten a balance bike for Clayton last October, together with some of his little friends. We've managed to negotiate a good price from the dealer, because we bought almost all the stocks they had off their store. That's how a group of mummies buy things, we do "group buy". Terror or not?

First ride on the balance bike.

So, what is a balance bike?

Tea time!

Balance bikes have been made out of metal or wood, without pedals & training wheels. Certain brands/ models allow you to attach additional parts/ accessories to it separately, such as the pedals, some don't.

More makan time! The happiest moment of the day!

Who can ride on a balance bike? Is my child too young to start with one?

While the elder sibling are having fun riding the bikes, the young ones have fun eating snacks on the playmat, it won't be too long till they can join their sibling in bike riding too!

Well, you'd be surprised to hear this, your child is ready to ride on a balance bike as soon as he/ she is able to walk unassisted & steadily. These bikes are quite light in weight & most kids would able to ride on one comfortably as soon as they can walk.

His mood was okay for bike riding today, with the lure of food!

Clayton's little friend, Rachel, was the first one who started riding on a balance bike before the other peers in the same group did, it was her 2 year-old birthday present specially ordered from the U.S. (back then balance bike wasn't as popular as it is now), she showed us how much fun she had riding one, & we were all "poisoned" & were very much interested to get one for our kids too, so we started searching & hunting for the available brands in Malaysia & also the best deals in town.

See how many bikes we got from the store? There were more than these that were not captured in the picture.

The few common brands that are currently available in Malaysia are Strider, Cruzee, & JDBug, I'm sure there are more, but these are the few models that our little bikers own so far.

Here we have Strider & JDBug balance bikes.

We have a weekly biking outing at different parks to let the kids ride on the bike. Well, Clayton didn't quite like it in the beginning, regardless how I coaxed him he just wouldn't ride on his bike.

See how cool our little bikers are?

It's okay, after all we can't force the kids to do anything that they don't want to, although I surely was secretly wishing that one day he would ride it on willingly. So, I let him be & at the mean time we continue joining his little friends in the regular park outing & let him run wild with all his little friends, he has fun nevertheless.

Little biker is on the road. Beware!

Other than balance bikers, we also have kids who are great at scooter riding.

Scooter riding is very fun too!

Safety gear is very important to prevent the kids from getting hurt. Accidents do happen, our philosophy : no helmet, no rides.

Clayton participated in the OCBC bike race early this year.

Clayton participated in the OCBC race early this year, but grumpy boy wasn't in the best of his mood & refused to ride on his bike. His papa carried him together with the bike & finished the 100m race. He still won himself a medal by completing the race though.

Don't feel like riding? Never mind, we walk & run alright!

Sometimes the kids may not in the mood for a bike rides, it's okay, we walk, we run, we play some other stuffs. Enjoy all the fun that we can get in the nature.

We do other fun stuffs other than bike riding.

It is a weekly park outing that we parents & the kids that very much look forward to, our outdoor get together always fill with fun & laughter, the kids get to play together with their little friends while  daddies & mummies get to have fun chit chatting with each other too. What a beautiful way to enjoy a beautiful weekend.

The little bikers are having fun exploring the nature.

There are so many amazing stunts that the kids can do with a balance bike. Let me share this amazing video with you that I watch over & over & over again.
