Chinese New Year Cookies - Air-Fryer Crispy Crabsticks ~ 无油炸蟹柳

Fried crabstick is 1 of my favorite CNY cookies, & once you pop this in your mouth, you literally just don't feel like stopping it. I'm serious.

I just gotten an air fryer this recently, & I wondered if the AF can do the same job, imagine eating an oil free fried crabstick? Woo, now I would feel guilt free.

So I tested it with a small batch, many methods would require you to air/ fan dry the peeled crabsticks so they're really dry when you oil-fried them, & hence, crispy, but I don't feel like doing that, & so I tried dumping them straight into the AF, well, it worked! But, it takes more time to get it done, but they're healthier don't they?

~ Step-by-Step Tutorial ~

Peel the crabsticks to thin slices.

I skipped the air/ fan dry process & go straight into the air fryer, hence it takes a little more time because they're still pretty wet.
Set the air fryer temperature to 140C.
Place all the crabstick slices in the basket (about 1 - 1.5 big packs), tossing in between.

You'll see the crabsticks are sticking to each other, don't worry, just keep tossing every 5 minutes or so, it will take about 40-50 minutes to dry up.

Keep tossing in between & you'll be able to produce crispy, crunchy & oil-less crabsticks in about 1 hour & 20-30 minutes. Yeah I know, it's time consuming, but imagine this, they're oil-less, now you can eat them & be guilt free! ;)

Store them in an air-tight container, enjoy!!
