Chinese New Year Cookies - Black Sesame Cookies ~ 黑芝麻酥饼

Has been feeling unwell for a few days, again! Is it a norm to fall ill just right before the Chinese New Year? There are so much to do right now but I just don't feel energetic to do at all. Grrrhhh!!!

So, I've finally felt better, & is in the mood for some CNY cookies baking again. Today, I chose another easy to bake cookies, & something that melts in your mouth, just like the peanut cookies, my whole kitchen smells so fragrant while the baking was in the process. Hmm..... heaven!

Oh ya! I forgot to mention, it's black sesame cookies.

You can shape with any cookie cutter, or just shape it into a small round mini ball.
See how cute these are?

I kid you not, these are really easy to make, & they taste oh-so-yummy too! My boys couldn't stop popping these into their mouth, if only I can snap a picture of my younger boy on how he snatched the cookies off the tray so cheekily!

I used the leftover dough to shape these 2 baa baa black sheep, my boys love them.

~ Step-by-Step Tutorial ~

Place the black sesame seeds in a flat pan with lid.
Close the lid & turn the stove to medium heat.
After 2 minutes, open the lid, shake the pan so the seeds can be toasted thoroughly on both sides.
Close the lid for another 1 minute, off the heat.

Let the sesame seeds rest on a plate to cool.

Place the toasted black sesame in a blender, blend it for about 5-10 seconds, they will look a bit sticky.

Place all the ingredients in a food processor.

Pulse for about 10 times, or until it forms as a dough.

Place the dough on a cling wrap.

Chill in the fridge for 15-30 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a flat surface.

I placed a cling wrap underneath & on top so it doesn't stick.

Use any cookie cutter as you wish, or just shape it into a round ball.

Place them on a baking dish with a lined parchment paper.

Garnish with some black sesame seeds, press lightly so they stick on the top of the cookies.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the sides turn a little browned.

Let cool & keep the cookies in an air tight container.
