Steamed Tofu with Shallots, Dried Shrimp, & Minced Meat ~ 葱油豆腐


Steamed tofu with shallots, dried Shrimp a.k.a. the 葱油豆腐 in Chinese, is the only steamed tofu that I would eat, I love it to be topped with lots & lots of fried shallots, & my kids love the gravy so much, just serve me this with a bowl of rice & I would be very contented.


Well, apparently much more skills are needed to have perfectly remove the tofu off the packaging, sorry for my clumsiness being a first timer. :p

* Step-by-Step Tutorials *
 
Heat up the wok with oil, fry the shallots until they turn golden brown, reserve the oil. You can do this step ahead of time.


Leave some oil in the wok & fry the dried shrimps until crispy, dish, & transfer to kitchen towel to drain.

Next, fry the minced meat until they're slightly brown, dish, set aside.

Meanwhile, remove the tofu from packaging & place into a steamer safe dish, steam on high heat for 5 minutes, drained the excessive water from steaming.

While the tofu is steaming, prepare the gravy, add in all the seasoning in the wok on the highest heat, turn to a boil, off the heat.

Arrange the minced meat, dried shrimp, & fried shallots on top of the steamed tofu, drizzle with the gravy & shallots oil, garnish with the chopped scallions.

1 plain tofu

3 tablespoons dried shrimp, soaked in hot water & drained 
100gm minced meat
3- 4 tablespoons of chopped shallots (or pre-fried shallots)
1 heaping tablespoon of shallot oil

1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon dark caramel sauce
100ml water

Directions :
